Dr. Angela Kosta Honored with the “Rita Levi-Montalcini” Award
As part of the program, distinguished personalities from the worlds of science, culture, journalism and the arts were honored for their contribution and commitment to knowledge, creativity and cultural development.
Among the distinguished personalities honored in Rome was international cultural promoter Dr. Angela Kosta, who received the prestigious “Rita Levi-Montalcini” Award for Excellence.
A Ceremony Dedicated to Knowledge, Culture and Women's Talent
The event was held at Palazzo Valentini in Rome and inaugurated a series of activities dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine awarded in 1986 to Italian scientist Rita Levi-Montalcini.
The Levi-Montalcini Foundation was represented by its President, Piera Levi-Montalcini, Vice President Claudia Geromel Levi-Montalcini, and Dr. Marcello Merlino.
Angela Kosta Receives the “Rita Levi-Montalcini” Award
Among the honorees was Angela Kosta, whose work as an international cultural promoter has developed across literature, translation, journalism and publishing, with a particular focus on the circulation of culture and ideas across geographical, linguistic and cultural boundaries.
A particularly significant moment of the ceremony was the presentation of the award to Angela Kosta by Dr. Piera Levi-Montalcini, President of the Levi-Montalcini Foundation, together with her daughter, Dr. Claudia Geromel Levi-Montalcini, Vice President of the Foundation.
Their presence gave the recognition a particularly meaningful connection to the legacy of Nobel laureate Rita Levi-Montalcini.

The “Rita Levi-Montalcini” Lifetime Achievement Award is hereby conferred upon international cultural promoter Angela Kosta for her continuous commitment to the dissemination of culture, literature, and knowledge through an extensive body of work capable of transcending geographical, linguistic, and cultural boundaries.
For transforming the written word into an instrument of encounter and dialogue among peoples, recognizing the richness of different identities and fostering the circulation of ideas, authors, and knowledge within the international cultural landscape.
On the 40th anniversary of the awarding of the Nobel Prize to Rita Levi-Montalcini, this recognition celebrates in Angela Kosta a vision of culture conceived as a bridge between people and civilizations, capable of generating knowledge, awareness, and a future.

“I feel deeply honored, not only by this recognition, as an Albanian and also as an Italian, since I have been living in Italy for 31 years, but above all as a woman, whom Nobel laureate Dr. Rita Levi-Montalcini placed at the center of her projects, research, and scientific laboratories.”
The Institutions Behind the Congress
The “Excellence Is Woman” congress was promoted by the Tiberina Academy, in collaboration with the Levi-Montalcini Foundation and the International Cultural Academy Cartagine 2.0, with the participation of Guglielmo Marconi University.
The initiative was created with the aim of recognizing women's intelligence, creativity and contribution to science, culture and society.
At the center of the initiative was the legacy of Dr. Rita Levi-Montalcini, Nobel laureate in Physiology or Medicine, scientist and Senator for life, whose work remains an important part of Italian scientific history.
Building an Annual Space for Culture and Dialogue
Conceived as an annual event, the initiative originated within the Department of Literature of the Tiberina Academy, where Angela Kosta serves as President of the Press Office.
The objective is to create a permanent space for study, dialogue and cultural promotion, bringing together personalities from science, culture, journalism, art and research.
The Tiberina Academy, registered with the United Nations, has a history spanning 213 years and forms part of the tradition of Italian academic institutions.
A Moment of Remembrance
At the opening of the event, a minute of silence was observed in memory of Italian politician Emma Bonino.
Her memory was associated with themes of freedom and human dignity, creating a symbolic reflection alongside the legacy of Nobel laureate Rita Levi-Montalcini.
The event was moderated by Dr. Antonietta Micali and included artistic and musical performances.

The “Rita Levi-Montalcini” Plaque
Subsequently, the International Cultural Academy Cartagine 2.0, in collaboration with the Levi-Montalcini Foundation, presented the “Rita Levi-Montalcini” Plaque to journalist Manuela Biancospino and soprano Caterina Novak.
Caterina Novak is recognized in Italy and abroad and was awarded the title of Knight of the Italian Republic in 2009.
During the event, the Cartagine Awards were also presented to other distinguished personalities.

Among those attending were Alessandro Della Posta, President of the International Cultural Academy Cartagine 2.0, and Prof. Luca Alfieri, Director of the Department of Humanities at Guglielmo Marconi University, together with representatives of the partner institutions.
The event also received the support of Radio Studio 107 Milan and Lombardy TV, directed by Dr. Sabrina Morelli.

“Excellence Is Woman” aims to become an annual gathering where science, culture, art, information and scientific research come together around the value of knowledge and talent.
Within this framework, the prestigious “Rita Levi-Montalcini” Award for Excellence represents another significant milestone in the international cultural journey of Angela Kosta.
Her recognition in Rome also highlights an important Albanian cultural presence at a ceremony dedicated to one of the most distinguished women in Italian science: Nobel laureate and Senator for life Dr. Rita Levi-Montalcini.
