The Kimolos International Film Festival Brings the Cyclades Together
Manti Lykeridou Joins the Jury, New Collaboration with the Amorgos Film Festival, and Major International Film Participation
The Hellenic Los Angeles Media Network is proud to support the 8th Kimolos International Film Festival (KIFF), an important cultural event that has successfully connected the Greek island landscape with international cinema.
This year’s festival, taking place from September 2 to 6, 2026, in Kimolos, further strengthens the island’s role as a meeting point for filmmakers, artists, industry professionals, and audiences from Greece and abroad.
For the Hellenic Los Angeles Media Network, supporting KIFF is part of its ongoing commitment to promoting Greek culture, filmmaking, the arts, and cultural initiatives taking place across Greece and its islands.
Manti Lykeridou Joins the Jury of the 8th KIFF
Just ahead of the announcement of its main programme, the 8th Kimolos International Film Festival has revealed another important figure who will play a significant role in this year’s event.
Acclaimed photographer and exhibition curator Manti Lykeridou, who lives and works on the island of Milos, will serve on one of the two juries of this year’s KIFF.
Her artistic work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions in Greece and abroad, while she has also collaborated with contemporary dance and theatre groups from Greece and France.
Her participation in the Kimolos International Film Festival (KIFF) carries a special symbolism: Milos meets Kimolos, while the photographic eye meets the cinematic image.
Kimolos – Amorgos: A New Cinematic Collaboration in the Aegean
The festival is also opening a new chapter of collaboration between the Cyclades islands.
The KIFF is preparing a new cinematic partnership with the Amorgos Film Festival, with joint activities expected to be announced in the coming period.
The collaboration creates another important cultural connection between the islands of the Aegean and highlights the importance of networking between film festivals and cultural organisations throughout Greece.
For the Hellenic Los Angeles Media Network, such initiatives are particularly important, as culture can serve as a bridge for communication, creativity, international outreach, and cooperation.
Marco Pollini’s “L'Oratore” Comes to Kimolos
The programme of this year’s KIFF will also feature “L'Oratore”, directed by Italian filmmaker Marco Pollini.
The film presents an original story of coming of age, music, and the search for a second chance.
Its protagonist is a young man from a working-class neighbourhood who buys a piano with money borrowed from a loan shark.
The film’s cast also includes Marcello Fonte, winner of the Palme d’Or for Best Actor at Cannes for his performance in “Dogman.”
“L'Oratore” is based on the novel of the same name by Marco Pollini, published by Santelli.
Kimolos at the Heart of International Cinema
From September 2 to 6, 2026, Kimolos will once again become a meeting point for international cinema.
With free admission for the public, residents and visitors will have the opportunity to attend the festival’s screenings and activities, while the presence of filmmakers and professionals from the international film community further strengthens the festival’s global character.
The Hellenic Los Angeles Media Network will continue to support and promote important cultural events that contribute to Greece’s international cultural presence and create bridges between Greek culture and the international artistic community.
